Our client in the Oil and Gas Sector , is seeking suitably qualified persons for the position of Policy and Research Advisor for one year .

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Talent & Culture Transformation, the Policy and Research Advisor is responsible for providing professional research and advisory support for local and international work activities, with relation to employee relations, policy review and development, audit and compliance, and organizational restructuring and redesign. The position is also required to provide support to the Procurement function with regards to the revision and roll-out of the Procurement Handbook. The incumbent will provide support to the group of companies, its subsidiaries and new business ventures as required.

These activities are expected to be conducted safely, cost-effectively, and reliably and must be delivered in a manner that consistently adds value to the client's overall business process.

Advisory Services:

Organizational Restructure and Redesign (PPEML) and PEO Transition:

  • Organization redesign and restructuring activities for the North American subsidiaries in alignment to policy and legislation.
  • The transition of the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) in compliance with US labor legislation.
  • Audit Reporting and Compliance:

  • Base organization resource audit, complying with all legislation.
  • Coordinate and ensure closure of all recruitment audit items in 2024.
  • Policy Review and Development Exercise:

    The development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures for the North American subsidiaries – updating of Employee Handbook with new policies (Overtime Policy, Sick Policy, and Vacation Leave Policy).

  • Completion of 4-5 policies as advised by Group HR Managers, inclusive of the revised Employment (Recruitment) Policy, Succession Planning Policy, Pension Policy and the Job Description Policy.
  • Conducts relevant research as required in support of policy development and administration.
  • Ensure alignment through research with US & Canadian labor policy guidelines and philosophies as well as regional regulations and local cultural needs.
  • Procurement Handbook:

  • Assist the SCM Supervisor with the revision and roll-out of the Procurement Handbook in alignment with Procurement Legislation as required.
  • Employee Relations and IR:

  • Provides research support for Employee Relations and Industrial Relations, inclusive of current IR cases.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Management Studies, or a related Social Sciences discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.

    AND

    A minimum of ten (10) years related professional experience, with demonstrated competence in research, employee relations, and policy development related activities.

    Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

    • Ability to compile, collate and present research data in useful format.
    • Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of research and investigative methodology.
    • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Policy development and analytical skills.
    • Advanced Microsoft Suite.
    • A solid knowledge of the labor practices of the countries in which employees are placed.
    • Ability to work independently.
